Hal higdon's marathon training guide:

in my experience with marathon training, i have found this website to be the best. it allows for enough off-time so that you have a lessend change of experiencing shin splints (a runners nightmare). it also has several tips that can help ease nerves before the big race itself.

2007 marathon statistics:

This website contains the 2007 marathon statistics in the u.s.. it is interesting to note that there has been a steady increase in marathon participants, but not an increase in marathon finishing times.  There has been a slight drop in participants since its peak in 2001. It would be interesting to see whether the fact that they do not allow the use of ipods could be the reason. since its introduction in 2001, ipod use was allowed, until it was quickly banned the following year.

Polar Website:

Both the Polar and Garmin websites are great resources for purchasing and experiencing what GPS systems have to offer. I like them because you also have the option of purchasing other "new" technologies such as clothing items, running eyewear, and shoes. There is also several bullets that allow you to compare and contrast what each technology has to offer in relation to its price.
